I am a trauma-informed psychotherapist who stives to provide a safe, authentic, compassionate space for individuals. I have spent over a decade working for the Canada Border Services Agency both front-line and behind the scenes. Originally, I had aspirations to move up in the Agency, however, I quickly discovered that it was not the direction that aligned with my values. It was after an incident at work that I met our on-call therapist and the trajectory of my career shifted. While continuing to work for CBSA, I completed my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, and worked with those who had experienced and struggled with trauma(s) in their lives.
My main approach to psychotherapy is integrative, client-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. I pull from several evidence-based therapeutic modalities, adapting to client needs and am truly eclectic. My main modalities include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
With compassion, curiosity, and humour, I work collaboratively with clients to explore a variety of issues and concerns. I assist clients in building safety, coping skills, and resilience, navigating difficult situations and emotions, getting reconnected to the Self and others, healing, and finding purpose and value in a world of constant change and uncertainty. I always feel extremely privileged to get to know my clients and walk with them on this journey.
